- Date
- Fri, 14 August 2026
- Time
- 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM AST(America/Barbados)

Join Future Caribbean for a one-hour fireside chat with **Marla Dukharan, renowned Caribbean economist**, for a candid conversation on the economic future of the Caribbean and what it will take to build a more competitive, connected and resilient region.
We’ll explore the structural realities shaping Caribbean economies today — including low growth, high costs, small and fragmented markets, access to capital, productivity, debt, trade and our dependence on external markets — while looking at where the greatest opportunities for transformation now exist.
The conversation will also examine the role that **technology, Agentic AI and digital infrastructure** can play in overcoming some of the constraints of scale and fragmentation, creating new economic models and allowing Caribbean companies and talent to compete globally.
Marla will share her perspective on **what the Caribbean gets right, where we continue to get in our own way, what needs to change, and where she sees the region heading over the next decade.**
This is an open conversation with the Future Caribbean community, with time dedicated to questions from builders, founders and participants.
**Duration:** 1 hour
**Hosted on:** Future Caribbean Tapin
**Open to all**
